Joint Adventure - A Gamified Knee Rehabilitation Platform

Joint Adventure turns knee rehabilitation into an interactive game. Designed with physical therapists, it’s all about getting you moving, no complicated gear required.

Choose your challenge: buck cowboys in Rodeo Rehab or fend off fish-stealing cats in Cat Cure. Real exercises, real progress, just way more fun.

Gameplay

Joint Adventure is a knee rehabilitation platform designed to support post-operative recovery in a fun, motivating, and engaging way. To ensure accessibility for as many people as possible, the game is built to run on simple, widely available hardware, using just a camera to track the patient’s movements and a standard computer to display the game and calculate performance.

The game features two modes, both inspired by real physical therapy exercises. The entire experience was developed and evaluated under the guidance of professional physical therapists to ensure it’s both safe and effective.

Game Modes

Rodeo Rehab
In Rodeo Rehab, the player takes on the role of a rodeo cow trying to buck off a persistent cowboy. By following movement cues displayed at the bottom of the screen, players perform targeted rehab exercises. The system analyzes each move in real-time, comparing it against the patient’s previously recorded maximum performance, to deliver detailed feedback on accuracy and speed.

Cat Cure
In Cat Cure, the player becomes a weary fisherman heading home after a long day. Along the way, they’re ambushed by mischievous stray cats trying to steal their fish. To protect the catch, the player performs star-step foot movements, frightening off the cats and completing essential rehab exercises in the process.
